The Deutsche Bundesbank is the independent central bank of the Federal Republic of Ger-many. Eurosystem monetary policy is its core business area. Its other tasks include national supervision of credit institutions (partly under the aegis of the European Single Supervisory Mechanism), cash management and payment systems, as well as financial and monetary stability. Moreover, the Bundesbank manages Germany's foreign reserves, acts as the government's fiscal agent and compiles banking and monetary statistics. It also advises the Federal Government on monetary policy matters.
The Bundesbank's broad range of free educational materials and presentations is designed to impart basic knowledge in the areas of money, currency and central banking as part of its general economic education activities. The aim is to teach young people, in particular, about the key importance of a stable currency and the Bundesbank's stability culture for sustainable economic growth.
