In 2027, Westermann is particularly concerned with the question of how education can help young people navigate an increasingly complex, digitalized, and fast-paced world with confidence.

Where is education actually reaching its limits right now? What approaches or solutions would you like to showcase at didacta?

For me, education reaches its limits precisely where a great many demands converge simultaneously. Artificial intelligence is transforming learning and the transfer of knowledge at an enormous pace. The flood of information is growing, social debates are becoming more polarized, and at the same time, many students and teachers feel under immense pressure.

This raises a central educational question for us: How can we empower people to act confidently and competently under these conditions?

We view self-reliance in three dimensions. Digital self-reliance means being able to understand, contextualize, and critically evaluate information, data, and AI. Social and political self-reliance describes the ability to tolerate different perspectives, listen, and engage in constructive dialogue with one another. Mental self-reliance encompasses the conscious management of attention, stress, emotions, and uncertainty.

We view sovereignty in three dimensions. Digital sovereignty means being able to understand, contextualize, and critically evaluate information, data, and AI. Social and political sovereignty describes the ability to tolerate different perspectives, listen, and engage in constructive dialogue with one another. Mental sovereignty encompasses the conscious management of attention, stress, emotions, and uncertainty.

At didacta, we want to demonstrate how these skills can be strengthened in concrete ways in schools: through modern educational media, digital solutions, professional development opportunities, and new ideas related to media and AI literacy, social cohesion, and mental resilience.

What are you particularly looking forward to regarding didacta 2027 in Hannover?

Above all, I’m looking forward to the personal encounters with the people who give their all for education day in and day out. didacta brings a great many of these people together in one place: teachers, school administrators, education policymakers, academics, publishers, startups, and other stakeholders in the education sector.

For us, this exchange is particularly valuable. We want to hear what schools are currently grappling with, which solutions work in practice, and where new ideas are needed. These conversations often provide the best inspiration for our own work.

And the Hannover venue holds special significance for us: As a company based in Lower Saxony, we’re looking forward to a real home game.

Why should visitors definitely not miss your booth at didacta 2027?

At our booth, visitors can take a closer look at our new educational resources. These include, among other things, the further expansion of the AI features in our BiBox teaching system, as well as our offerings for the curriculum transition in Lower Saxony. Through one-on-one discussions with our experts, we’ll demonstrate how our solutions can support teachers in their day-to-day work. At the same time, we want to create space for the bigger questions that schools are currently grappling with.

One of these questions will be particularly relevant to us in 2027: How do we remain in control in an increasingly complex and algorithm-driven world?

If you’d like to discover new materials, make sense of current developments, take away new ideas, and discuss the future of education with us, our booth is the perfect place for you.
