How can we ensure high-quality education in times of skilled labour shortages, growing diversity and ongoing societal change? This question lies at the heart of didacta 2027, taking place from 23 to 27 February 2027 in Hanover. With its motto, “Education at the Limit? Diversity. Quality. Innovation.”, Europe’s largest education trade fair addresses the current challenges across the entire educational landscape while making one thing clear: future-ready education is created where diversity is embraced, quality is ensured and innovation is enabled.

The title is intentionally phrased as a question. A shortage of qualified professionals, increasing heterogeneity diversity among learners, limited resources and rapid technological change—particularly driven by artificial intelligence—are placing significant pressure on educational institutions and everyone responsible for education. Whether this “limit” represents a breaking point or a turning point depends on how the education system responds today. The motto answers this question through its three central concepts.

Diversity defines the starting point. Today’s learners bring with them a wide range of backgrounds, biographies and educational pathways. This diversity is both a reality and a valuable resource. Educational approaches that genuinely embrace diversity create opportunities for participation instead of barriers.

Quality defines the aspiration. Especially under pressure, education must not compromise its standards. Quality means sound teaching methodologies, highly qualified professionals, reliable structures and the courage to evaluate new tools based on their actual contribution to learning—not simply on how new they are.

Innovation defines the way forward. Innovation does not mean chasing the next trend. It means translating new ideas into educational practice in ways that reduce the workload for educators while empowering learners. didacta demonstrates how this can be achieved by showcasing solutions that have successfully made the transition from concept to everyday educational practice.

The motto should therefore be understood as a call to action. An overstretched education system does not need slogans encouraging perseverance—it needs practical solutions that truly make a difference in the daily work of early childhood education centres, schools, vocational training providers and continuing education institutions. didacta provides visibility for these solutions and brings together the people who make them happen.

“In the education sector, we see every day how great the pressure to act has become in many areas,” says Dinah Korb, Managing Director of Didacta Ausstellungs- und Verlagsgesellschaft mbH. “At the same time, we also see the tremendous innovative strength of educational institutions, companies, academia and policymakers. didacta provides the space to showcase successful approaches, exchange perspectives and jointly develop solutions to the pressing challenges facing our education system. With the motto ‘Education at the Limit? Diversity. Quality. Innovation.’, we are deliberately making a statement in favour of constructive dialogue and the courage to actively shape the future of education,” Korb adds.

didacta sees itself as a platform for orientation, dialogue and new ideas. It presents practical solutions to the challenges facing education, fosters exchange between all relevant stakeholders across the education sector and provides important impulses for the continued development of education in the years ahead.
